TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - 2nd grade students and their 5th grade buddy classes joined forces at MUSD’s Estes Elementary school to make fleece blankets for the homeless.
The Elementary reached out to the Marana community to raise “Funds for Fleece” to help benefit the local Tucson Women & Children’s Shelter and Crisis Nursery, and Casa De Los Niños.
The students worked together to make a total of 24 two-layer cut & tie blankets. A teacher from the Elementary says the students also had an eye-opening lesson about homelessness, children in need, community service, and the importance of giving back to the community, especially during the holidays.
The students learned valuable lessons and left a lasting impression on the organizations in need.
