TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - It was a year ago Thursday that Arturo Castillo was killed in the parking lot of an east side apartment complex.
His family is hurting with the loss of their loved one. It has been a tougher year for Arturo’s dad Miguel.
“He was someone special one in a million or more he always had that laugh,” said Castillio.
Today on the one year anniversary of his son’s death, he visited him at Holy Hope Cemetery. To his surprise, Arturo’s friends showed up at the grave site. They decorated it with flowers and played music as they remembered their friend.
“There’s very few people that a person can call a friend and it’s real friends that do this it’s real friends so I can’t I can’t say thank you enough,” Miguel said.
According to his father, Arturo got into a car with someone for about 30 seconds. That’s when he was shot in the chest and back of the head.
Tucson News Now spoke with Tucson police, they say there have been no new leads in the case.
Miguel is now asking the public for help to get justice for his son.
“Let it be known what information they know so that these persons can be apprehended and caught," he said. "They should not be out here free.”
Miguel told us it has been a difficult year without his son - a son that he members as a good dancer, a caring person and someone who stood up for others.
“We will always hurt, we will always carry the loss of a son that can never be erased,” said Miguel.
