TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - An annual holiday drive is underway now to benefit a local organization that helps grieving children and families.

It's happening at Mr. An's on the northwest side near Oracle and Orange Grove roads.

The community is invited to drop off donations to benefit the Tu Nidito organization, a local grieving center.

The holiday drive started early Friday morning, Dec. 21, and runs until 8 p.m.

Becky Slade with the organization says they depend on the money raised at events like this holiday drive.

“The money raised is going to go directly to supporting all of our programs. We serve more than 800 children a year, so there’s a huge need for the services we have and we’re able to provide them thanks to Mr. An, Sam Levitz, and other community leaders and donors in our community," she said.

Tu Nidito serves more than 800 children and their families every year.

“Tu Nidito truly is a community organization. We don’t get insurance reimbursement. We are truly reliant on being supported by our community so this is really important to us and each donation that we get, whether it’s a dollar donation or a large gift, every cent goes a long way in allowing us to do our work," she said.
