Tucson police investigating fatal shooting at south-side hotel

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Detectives with the Tucson Police Homicide Unit are investigating a fatal shooting that took place around 6 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at the Hilton Garden Inn at 6575 South Country Club Road.

According to a TPD news release, a hotel employee responded to a room on reports of disturbance and a fire alarm going off. When the employee entered the room they found 38-year-old Larry Santini Lopez unresponsive and called 911.

Officers with Operations Division South responded and found Lopez with obvious signs of gunshot trauma, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is still in the early stages. According to the TPD news release, evidence collected at the scene points to the shooting possibly being drug related.

At this time there is no one in custody, according to the TPD.
