TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Arizona broke a four-game losing streak to ASU, beating the 17th ranked Sun Devils 51-39.
Aari McDonald scored the game high 24 points while Sam Thomas finished with 11.
As good as Arizona’s scoring was, its defense was even better. The Wildcats held ASU to 23% from the floor, 17% from three point land. Arizona forced 17 ASU turnovers, converting them into 12 points. 39 points was ASU’s season low and the lowest its scored against Arizona since the 1975-1976 season.
About the only critical area was offensive rebounds. Arizona only grabbed 3 offensive boards.
Still, after falling to the Sun Devils by 13, 25, 23, and 29 points, this fifteen point victory was as sweet as they came, especially in front of over 5,000 fans. The win was also, Arizona’s 10th straight, tying a school record.
The Wildcats visit Colorado on Friday then Utah on Sunday.
