ACTION DAY: Southern Arizona under hard freeze warning, rain on the way

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The KOLD News 13 First Alert Weather Team has issued Action Days for freezing temperatures on Thursday, Jan. 3 and rain on Sunday, Jan. 6.

Most of Pima and Pinal counties are in a hard freeze warning from 10 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Thursday. Some of the cities included are Tucson, Marana, Vail, Green Valley, Ajo and Sells.

The low temperatures will range from 24 to 30 degrees and will stay that way for several hours. That is cold enough to kill plants and pets while also damaging the pipes in your home. Go HERE for tips on protecting them.

The good news is things will start warming up pretty quickly during the day Thursday and highs will reach the 60s on Friday and Saturday.

After that, a cold front will bring rain into southern Arizona. The rain chances for Saturday evening is 30 percent and 50 percent Sunday.
