TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - 28-year-old Bernardino Grijalva who authorities believe shot at an officer on the south side of Tucson late Friday, Jan. 4 has been taken into custody.
The Tucson Police Department said the incident began around 9 p.m. when an officer in an unmarked vehicle chased a speeding car near 4th Avenue and 38th Street after witnessing the suspect speeding down the street.
The suspect pulled over and fired multiple shots at the officer.
The officer did not turn on police lights or sirens until after the shots were fired.
The suspect immediately fled the scene after the officer turned on the vehicle’s police lights.
The TPD said the officer was not injured.
Officers found Grijalva after searching the car he abandoned at the scene that night.
