TUCSON, AZ - All-Star Kyle Capobianco scored 40 seconds into overtime Saturday night to give Tucson a 2-1 win at Bakersfield.
Making his second start in as many days, goaltender Calvin Pickard highlighted the first period for Tucson, stopping three Condor power-play chances.
Rookie forward Tyler Steenbergen earned the first goal of the evening for Tucson late in the second period, winning a puck battle in front of the net and beating the Bakersfield netminder.
Newcomer Giovanni Fiore and David Ullstrom assisted on the marker.
With just seconds remaining in the second period, Bakersfield would finally crack Pickard to even the score at 1-1.
Pickard, the winning netminder, finished with 34 stops on 35 shots.
Ullstrom also assisted on the game-winning goal, giving him now 15 points in 17 games this season.
Tucson is off until Friday when the squad comes home to the Tucson Arena to face the Chicago. Faceoff is 7 p.m.
