TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A security guard at a motel was dragged by a stolen vehicle on Tuesday Jan. 8 while attempting to stop the driver.

At 5 p.m. on Tuesday evening, a woman called police to report her vehicle stolen from the AMPM on Park Ave. and Benson Highway.

At 9 p.m., a security guard working at Western Inn Motel on 755 E. Benson Highway spotted the stolen vehicle. He and another security guard attempted to stop the driver and as a result, one of the guards is dragged by the vehicle. The guard suffered minor injuries.

The vehicle stuck the motel in an attempt to flea the scene and collided into a chain link fence.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle, leaving a gun behind.

The suspect was last seen running east towards Park Ave. where he attempts to steal another car from two men at a nearby motel. The suspect was not successful in stealing the vehicle.

Police and K-9 units attempted to track down the suspect, but could not locate him.
