TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Construction restrictions on eastbound I-10 caused delays as far west at Cortaro Road on Monday morning, Jan. 14.
Drivers complained of huge delays as they headed to work.
Lanes that were first scheduled to be open by 5 a.m. were finally opened by 8:30 a.m., but overnight work - with more lane restrictions - is expected to continue throughout the week.
A spokesman for Arizona Department of Transportation said rain over the weekend caused the slow-down in work progress.
Work is being done to repair the road surface in the area between the Ruthrauff and Miracle Mile exits after multiple drivers complained about windshield damage.
Work began Saturday, Jan. 12, and should be completed by Jan. 19, with lane restrictions in place until work is complete.
