Almost seven thousand Wildcats fans turned out Saturday afternoon to check out an Arizona scrimmage, funny what a bowl game victory will do. The Wildcats took the field for the annual Spring time affair, but this year was a bit different.
Instead of pitting the first team defense and first team offense against each other, this year Mike Stoops decided to elect two team captains that would draft seperate teams. Stoops cited his reasoning behind the move was that there was more depth overall this season than in years passed. He also felt with the seperate teams he could get a better judgement with more of a "game like" feel.
The teams were divided, white versus blue. The end result produced a 23-21 victory for the white team which was led by Sophomore QB Matt Scott. Scott, a freshman backup to Tuitama last season , completed 11 of 20 passes for 206 yards with one interception. Foles, a sophomore transfer from Michigan State, led the Blue team going 16-for-24 for 183 yards with no picks.
Arizona coaches have said they won't mind rotating the two quarterbacks in the opening games of the 2009 season until somebody emerges.
