Gambling money buys new ambulance

Lauren Burgoyne, email

Drexel Heights Fire District is responding with a new ambulance thanks to gaming monies from the Tohono O'odham Nation. In 2002, voters passed Proposition 202, which entitles the tribe to share a portion of its gaming revenue to government agencies in order to better the community.

Drexel Heights Fire District submitted a proposal in 2008 asking for 110 thousand dollars to buy a new ambulance and its request was granted.
