UPDATE: Medical issue suspected as cause of deadly crash on 22nd

UPDATE: Tucson Police say 63-year-old Ambrose D'Arpino died as a result of this crash. Police suspect a "medical episode" may be the reason why he rear-ended another vehicle and crossed over into the other lane.

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - Part of 22nd Street west of Kolb Road has been closed down due to an accident involving three vehicles.

A Chevrolet pickup driving eastbound in the westbound lane of 22nd St. ran head-on into another truck hauling a flatbed trailer traveling westbound.

The driver pulling a trailer was reported to be suffering from minor injuries while the driver of the Chevrolet, identified only as a 63 year-old male, died at the hospital.

The other vehicle involved in the incident did not report any injuries.

Westbound 22nd will be closed for hours while police, emergency personnel and clean up crews work the scene.
