Nogales police officer charged with sexual conduct with a minor

NOGALES, AZ (KOLD) - Nogales Police officer Mariano Garibay has been arrested on suspicion of having sexual conduct with a minor.

An investigation into the matter began when the Nogales Police Department received allegations of the misconduct Tuesday, a release detailed.

The investigation-- which was handed off to Santa Cruz County Sheriff's deputies-- lead authorities to charge Garibay with having sexual conduct with a 16-year-old.

Garibay has since been arrested and booked into the Santa Cruz County jail.

He was a member of the Nogales Police force since 2007.
