Tucson, AZ (KOLD) - U.S. Bishops will elect their President this week and Tucson Bishop Gerald Kicanas is in the running for the prestigious honor.
Kicanas has served as Vice-President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops for the past three years.
We spoke with him on the phone about the vote expected to take place Tuesday in Baltimore.
Kicanas said, "The nine bishops who have been nominated along with me are wonderful men who have a deep love of the church and are very capable and confident. I'm honored."
If Kicanas is elected president, he says he'll work with religious leaders to strengthen marriage and promote cultural diversity.
