Domestic Violence Shelters Need Help for the Holidays

Tucson Centers for Women and Children (TCWC) is seeking community support to provide meats and non-perishable foods (or gift certificates) this holiday season.  Pillows, sheets & blankets are desperately needed in addition to food.  Donations can be dropped off at TCWC’s Administrative Office (the Lipsey Center) at 2545 E. Adams Street, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9:00am and 5:00pm.  Adams Street is north of Speedway off Tucson Blvd.  Won’t you please help?

TCWC operates two emergency crisis shelters for women and children who are victims of domestic violence.  More than 50 women and children will find themselves in these shelters during the holiday season, some of whom could possibly be your relatives, colleagues, friends or neighbors.

The agency would also like to remind the community that it provides 24-hour-a-day service, 365 days a year.  With two crisis shelters and a child care center, TCWC provides over 75,000 meals annually and donations of frozen and/or non-perishable foods are always needed and welcome.

The holidays are here and TCWC’s shelters are typically full.  A “Holiday Giving Program” is in place to provide the opportunity for individuals and groups to adopt-a-shelter, adopt-a-family, provide holiday parties and cash donations.  TCWC’s wish list and descriptions of the holiday programs can be found at www.tucsoncenters.com or by calling 795-8001.
