The identity of one of the men invovled in a suspected illegal street racing accident, was released by Tucson Police Wednesday afternoon.
The driver of the Red Chevy S10 pickup, has been identified as 18-year-old Alexander Rodriguez, said Tucson police.
Pima County Public Defender Robert J. Hooker was killed in the accident that occured late Tuesday afternoon. One of two vehicles reportedly was illegal street racing on Main Avenue near Fifth Street and spun out of control, according to authorities.
Authorities say, Rodriguez's red truck went out of control, crossed into the northbound lanes and collided with two vehicles, a maroon Acura SUV and a silver Chevrolet Trailblazer.
Hooker is reported to have been behind the wheel of silver Chevrolet Trailblazer. The driver of the Acura was injured and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
Rodriguez is in the hospital in serious condition. He is expected to face charges stemming from the accident, when he is released, said police.
Authorities are looking for another vehicle that fled the scene that was involved in the incident.
