President Bush will honor a Tucson volunteer before he leaves our city Friday morning.
Mary Frances Ward will receive the president's Volunteer Service Award.
We caught up with Ward at the airport picking up her sister who flew in for the presidential honor.
Ward has known about the award for about a week. She told KOLD News 13 "I have had such butterflies in my stomach. I haven't felt like anything."
Ward tutors and mentors elementary school students through the Experience Corps.
She was an educator for 35 years.
Now she volunteers at Harriet Johnson Primary School to help students with early literacy skills..
She also helps train other Experience Corps volunteers.
