Sonu Wasu is thrilled to be a member of the KOLD news team.
 
Sonu came to Tucson from WDTN-TV in Dayton, Ohio, where she was a General Assignment Reporter covering crime, weather, and city/county politics.  Sonu also has worked as a reporter and anchor at WATE in Knoxville and KTVQ in Billings, Mont.
 
During her 10 years in the business, Sonu has won several awards including Associated Press awards for Best Newswriting, Best Enterprise,  and an Ohio Valley Emmy for Investigative Reporting.
 
Sonu has covered everything from forest fires, to floods, tornadoes, snow storms, ice storms, high profile murder cases, plane crashes, and her favorite stories of all, successful animal rescues.
 
Sonu attended the University of California in San Diego, and majored in Mass Communications.  She got her foot in the door as an overnight news writer at KNSD-TV in San Diego.  
 
Sonu calls herself a citizen of the world.  She was born in India, but spent most of her life in Japan. She visits Kobe, Japan, once a year to reunite with family. Sonu is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Japanese.
 
Sonu calls herself a newshound, and is thrilled that her hobby and passion are the way she makes a living.  She considers being a reporter a big responsibility, and prides herself on being tough yet conscientious.
 
When she is not covering local news, you might find Sonu exploring the desert, hiking trails and restaurants of Tucson.  She loves trying new food, meeting people, learning about different cultures and soaking up the sunshine.  
 
After several years in the harsh winters of the Midwest, Sonu is thrilled to be living in sunny and warm Arizona.
