TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America, one that victimizes millions each year through no fault of their own.
The Pima County Sheriff's Department is partnering with Arizona Verified Information Destruction (AVID) to host several "Shred-A-Thons."
Each is free, and the public is encouraged to attend. Just bring your old personal documents and papers that should be shredded, reducing the possibility your personal information could get into the wrong hands.
The next Shred-A-Thon will be held Saturday, October 10 from 8:00am-12:00pm, in the parking lot of the Abrams Building, at 3950 South Country Club, next to Kino Hospital.
The event is intended for private citizens, not commercial businesses.
