A new and improved El Rio Community Health Center is coming soon.
Crews broke ground on the project Wednesday.
The new clinic will be located at the El Pueblo Regional Neighborhood Center at Irvington and Old Nogales Highway.
The state-of-the -art facility will offer medical care, x-rays, pharmacy services and more.
City councilman Steve Leal told KOLD News 13, "There is a particular collection of services here that is very user friendly to the public. So that a lady with two or three kids won't have to spend 12 hours on a bus going all over town to get stuff done. It's all here."
El Rio received 2.5- million dollars in federal stimulus funds to build the center.
It's expected to be complete in October 2010.
