Tucson, AZ (KOLD)- The victim of a New Year's Day homicide near Sahuarita has been identified.

Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Dawn Barkman says 56-year-old Phillip Harmon died at a home off of Pima Mine Road.

A person in the home called 911 around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. When deputies arrived, they found Harmon dead.

Multiple people were at the home at the time of the incident, Barkman said.  She added alcohol may have been involved.

According to witnesses at the scene, Phillip Harmon's son, 32-year-old Brian Harmon became involved in a physical altercation with the victim before fleeing the scene.

Brian Harmon was tracked down and arrested Saturday.

Harmon's been booked into the Pima County Jail and charged with 1st Degree Murder.

Phillip Harmon's friends remembered the man they say spent his years helping others.

Bill Harrison, Phillip's friend and neighbor of 40 years said, "He had kind of a flare for helping young people. I know he's helped a lot of young guys out."

Harrison said his friend didn't deserve to die this way. "It's just a shame to see him come to an end like this. I really feel bad."
