Rodeo pros rope in $16K at circuit competition in Tucson

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD) - The super loopers of the Pro Rodeo Circuit are all in one place at the Tucson Rodeo Wednesday.

The best roping teams in the country competed in the Mike Cervi Junior Memorial Rodeo.

Jake Cooper from Stephenville, Texas, and Jay Corkill from Fallon, Nevada won.

They each made $16,260.

The event raised $13,260 for the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund.

The roping competition is in memory of the late roper Mike Cervi, Junior.

He died in a plane crash in 2001.

His wife is barrel racer Sherry Cervi of Marana.
