Television has been bringing us the good, bad and ugly recently.

We've seen stories about politicians slugging it out, unfortunate news about our economy and sewage problems down by the border.

But on Tuesday and Wednesday-for 22 hours-we watched breathlessly as all 33 Chilean miners were rescued.

Yes, the Chilean Government orchestrated the whole thing, including the timing and the cameras from all angles-not to mention a playbook to the miners on how to handle the media. But each man retained his dignity and each was treated like a hero.

And we watched as one by one of the trapped workers made their way back up to civilization.

As the crowd cheered and cried, we reacted too. We felt good. Some of us teared up. Many of us talked about the good in the world on Facebook and Twitter.

One trapped miner said he survived the incident by faith, hope and family. Maybe that is a message to all of us: to focus on the good-and not the bad and the ugly.
