How Does Building Bridges Help?

How does Building Bridges for Autism plan to revolutionize services for children and families with autism in the Tucson area?

Building Bridges is about…

  1. Bridging the gap between research and practice—by drawing from a broad knowledge of science (such as Applied Behavioral Analysis), but by providing practical solutions which make an immediate impact in the life of the child—with carryover to home and school.  (Service:  Individual/Family Consulting*; Service:  Educator and Parent Workshops)
  2. Bridging the gaps in terms of the financing that is available for children and families—by providing unique child sponsorship opportunities to provide funding for services for children at the middle of the spectrum and above.  (Service:  The Building Bridges for Autism Sponsor-a-Child Programsm*)
  3. Building a bridge between parents and educators by partnering with both to provide solutions to problems which arise in school.  (Service:  Educational Consulting*; Service:  Educator and Parent Workshops)
  4. Bridging the social gaps…helping children on the spectrum develop social skills and a social perspective so they can connect with people around them.  (Service:  Social Skills Classes* for children ages 4-9 with Asperger's Syndrome, high-functioning autism or PDD; Service:  Individual/Family Consulting*)

*These services are provided for children with PDD-NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified), Asperger's syndrome, and high-functioning autism.
