Sam Levitz donates $12,500 to shooting victim funds

The following is a statement written by Sam Levitz about their generous donation:

As a leading locally owned Tucson business since 1953, we, on behalf of the entire 437 member Sam Levitz Furniture Team, extend our deepest sympathies to the families and the loved ones whose lives have been forever effected by the tragic event that struck our community on Saturday January 8, 2011. Together, we grieve the lost lives of Judge John Roll, Gabe Zimmerman, Dorwan Stoddard, Dorthory Morris, Phylis Scheck and Christina Taylor Green.
 
We gratefully thank the local heroes and the many first responders, Doctor's and Nurses who helped save the lives of those injured, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.  Together we pray for the complete and speedy recovery of Representative Giffords and all the others injured during this time.
 
We also Thank President Barack Obama and all the local and national dignitaries who joined Tucson in providing such an inspiring memorial service.
 
We respectfully contribute $12,500, to be divided amongst the Christina Taylor Green Memorial Fund, the Gabe Zimmerman Scholarship Fund, as well as the Tragedy in Tucson Victims Fund.
 
Sam Levitz Furniture also thanks our largest suppliers Ashley Furniture Industries and Sealy Mattress Company for their contributions to this donation.

    The Tucson Police Department is asking for the public's help locating 17-year-old Anthony Garcia. The teen is described as Hispanic, 5'10" tall, weighing 150 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. Although he is in his late teens, according to the release, he has special needs and functions at a much younger age.

    Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents recently stopped a human-smuggling attempt at the immigration checkpoint near Amado and another one during a vehicle stop near Three Points.
