A Tucson woman has now been charged with last Friday's hit and run accident. And, something to think about: she may have never been found except that someone cared enough to speak up.
21-year-old Abigail Allin is facing three felony charges. The victim, 23-year-old Sam Abate was riding his bicycle when he was hit and critically injured. The driver fled the scene.
The arrest may not have happened—except that the tech who fixed Allin's windshield kept asking questions about how it was damaged. And then, his manager, Damon Ashcraft, who had seen news reports about the crime put it all together and called 9-1-1
It's not known the extent of Abate's injuries--but he can talk. And he told his family that it's just not right that the driver fled the scene. But, because Ashcraft called the police, Allin will face those charges in court.
We would like to thank him and his employee for speaking up. It's just another example of how Southern Arizona truly cares and comes together.
