This isn't the end, heroic intern tells graduates

Posted: Updated:

TUCSON (KOLD) - The intern who helped save Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords' life is challenging graduates to be leaders as they contemplate their lives after high school.

Daniel Hernandez spoke to the class of 2011 at Sunnyside High School during graduation ceremonies Thursday night.

He reminded them that the end of high school wasn't the end of the road. He reminded them they would be leading the next generation.

"It's incumbent on all of you to go out there and do great things," Hernandez said. "But come back, because that's how we can improve this community and this country."

Nearly 400 seniors are in this year's graduating class at Sunnyside.
