Commander Mark Kelly says his wife Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords is doing well after being discharged from TIRR Memorial Hermann.
Giffords returned to their Houston house Wednesday.
Kelly spoke to reporters about her recovery outside their home while returning from an errand.
He picked up a newspaper for her.
Kelly says "It's great for her to be out of the hospital. That's a long time for anybody to be in a hospital bed, in a hospital room. The people at TIRR were really, really great to her, I mean we could've not asked for better care, and she was a little apprehensive, a little bit of a sad day but she was happy to get here. She's really looking forward to getting back to Tucson."
Kelly says they are developing plans for outpatient treatment with TIRR and Dr. Gerard Francisco.
Giffords will have a full time nurse to help her get better .
As for when they'll go back to Tucson, he says they've been talking about it.
Kelly also said since the cranioplasty, "her hair is a little shorter but she looks more amazing. "
