The town of Oro Valley is the latest to enact a temporary ban on fireworks.
It joins numerous cities and counties in Arizona in taking action to try to prevent more fires.
The holiday weekend is quickly approaching. And while there is a chance a rain, we are still in the middle of a drought - and in the middle of high fire danger.
KOLD News 13 would like to thank the communities that have stepped forward with the ban.
While some vendors and residents aren't happy with it, we feel it is the right thing to do to protect our homes, businesses, wildlife and desert.
If you want to see the fireworks, go to a professional exhibit. They will be taking extra precautions.
And, we would ask Southern Arizonans to resist the urge to shoot off the fireworks they have already purchased. The ban is temporary for now, and hopefully, we'll soon get our much needed rain.
The bottom line, it's just too dangerous to be shooting fireworks and we would ask our residents to think about it before an accidental fire causes a serious problem.
