There are just days left before Christmas, and once again, we urge you to think "local" as you finish your holiday shopping.
So far, the news has been good nationally; there have been steady increases in spending from last year. In Tucson, the city is reporting people seem to be spending more and giving the budget a little bonus. The City's CFO, Kelly Gottschalk, says revenue is up almost five percent—the best we've seen in a long time.
As we start to see signs of recovery, think about this: for every $100 that you spend in your hometown, it's estimated almost 70% stays in the local economy.
If you've bought your last gift, remember that there are great sales right now with big-ticket items. Retailers are trying to clear inventory before the New Year. Take a hard look at cars, trucks, furniture and appliances. There are good sales right now. Not only is it a great time to buy, you'll also be helping our economy.
