A federal judge has thrown out one attempt to block the controversial Rosemont Copper mine project.
The court dismissed a lawsuit by environmental organizations and Farmers Investment. It accused the U.S. Forest Service of violating federal law by allowing Rosemont access to special meetings during the environmental review process.
Coronado National Forest released its draft environmental impact statement on Rosemont last October after years of delays.
The public comment period ended Tuesday. A final decision on Rosemont's plan to mine copper in the Santa Rita Mountains is expected later this year.
