TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A man who took pictures of a child in a school bathroom pled guilty today in court.

Owen Dix pled guilty Feb. 6 to one count of photographing someone without their consent and one count of videotaping someone without their consent. He will be sentenced on March 12, 2012.

Owen Dix, 35, took pictures of a child inside the boy's bathroom at Banks Elementary School on Dec. 12, 2011.

School officials said Dix had accompanied a volunteer to the school that day, to help with a holiday food drive that was taking place inside a storage room, near the bathroom.

Cara Rene, Director of Communications for the Tucson Unified School District, said all volunteers at the school are required to undergo an extensive application process that involves background checks and fingerprinting.

Visitors, however, are only required to sign in and sign out.

A search warrant obtained by Pima County investigators indicated the 7-year-old boy was inside a bathroom stall, when he noticed a cell phone camera pointed at him from over a stall next door.

The boy said the person with the camera took two pictures of him.

The search warrant states the boy was able to see the clothes the suspect was wearing through a crack in the bathroom stall.

Authorities said the boy notified the principal, and they were quickly able to recognize the suspect from the clothing description provided by the child.
