TUCSON, AZ (TUCSON NEWS NOW) - Some teachers just stand out long after you graduate from high school.

Josh Farr is like that.

Senior Mikey Swanson says, "He's probably the best biology teacher in Tucson, really."

That's a compliment any teacher would love to hear from their students.

Farr teaches biology, anatomy and physiology at Cienega High School .

When we visited, students were learning about measuring the rate of photosynthesis.

Students say what makes him stand out is his witty style.

Josh says, "I've learned that I'm very not hip. I've learned that I'm very old. I'm 31"

After graduating from the U of A, Farr worked at a lab in Chandler, mentoring undergraduate students.

He knew then he wanted to make teaching a career.

Students say he inspires them to think positively and work harder.

Junior Tyler Major says, "He's definitely changed my attitude toward science. I always thought it was robotic and not very fun. But he's made it very enjoyable to work with data and do things."

Josh says, "I have the capability to create something fun everyday. That's my job and my clientele expects that. And I try to give them the best that I can."

Farr's easy-going attitude allows him to engage with students, and truly understand the issues they're facing."

Charisma Jansen says, "I think he knows how to reach out to them not just educational level, but on a personal level outside of school. That really helps make connections, helps the students individually learn better."

Farr has taken students to the Florida Everglades.

He hopes to someday take a class trip to the Galapagos Islands.
