TUCSON, Ariz. – University of Arizona men's basketball signees Brandon Ashley and Grant Jerrett today were named to participate in the 2012 McDonald's High School All-America game.
Ashley, a 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward from Oakland, Calif., and Jerrett, a 6-foot-10, 220-pound forward from LaVerne, Calif., were both named to the West roster in the 2012 contest, which will take place on March 28 at the United Center in Chicago.
The Wildcats-to-be duo are the first recruits to earn McDonald's All-American distinction for Arizona head coach Sean Miller in his eight seasons as a head coach, and are Arizona's first such nationally recognized recruits since 2007.
Additionally, Ashley and Jerrett are the 16th and 17th McDonald's All-Americans in Arizona history, joining Hassan Adams (2002), Jerryd Bayless,(2007), Mike Bibby (1996), Chase Budinger (2006), Ben Davis (1991), Sean Elliott (1985), Jason Gardner (1999), Richard Jefferson (1998), Jawann McClellan (2004), Craig McMillan (1984), Chris Mills (1988), Khalid Reeves (1990), Mustafa Shakur (2003), Brian Williams (1987) and Loren Woods (1996).
It marks the first time that Arizona has had two McDonald's All-Americans in the same season.
