Airmen at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base are mourning the detach of an airman who was killed in a motorcycle crash west of Tucson.
Tech. Sgt. Dustin Jackson, 36, passed away on Friday night at University of Arizona Medical Center.
Pima County Sheriff's investigators say Jackson died after he collided with a vehicle while riding a motorcycle at the intersection Sandario Road and Kinney in the vicinity of Saguaro National Park.
"Sergeant Jackson was an important part of the Desert Lightning family, and he will be missed," said Col. John A. Cherrey, 355th Fighter Wing commander. "We stand with his family and his squadron in this in this incredibly difficult time."
Jackson enlisted in the Air Force in November, 2000, and was stationed at D-M beginning in August 2008. He was a Fire Emergency Services Crew Chief serving in the D-M Fire Department.
Jackson recently returned from a deployment in support of Operation New Dawn in Iraq. His major awards include two Air Force Commendation Medals and two Air Force Achievement Medals, according to Cherrey.
Jackson is survived by his mother, father, and sister. His hometown is Red Oak, Iowa.
