TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The man involved in a homicide earlier this week has died after a self-inflicted gunshot during the course of the incident.

He has been identified as 41-year-old James Leonard.

Tucson Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 9 a.m. on Feb. 13.

The caller said that a female friend had just called saying her ex-boyfriend arrived at her home.

The caller indicated that the friend possibly had a court order prohibiting the ex-boyfriend from contacting her.

Upon arrival at the 2800 block of South Kolb Road residence for a welfare check, officers noted signs of forced entry and found a female dead with apparent gunshot wounds. The victim is identified as Claudia Pascual, 31, of Tucson.

A Leonard was found suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was transported to a local trauma center with life-threatening injuries.

Authorities believe the man forced his way into the residence, shot the victim and then turned the gun on himself. The victim did have an Order-of-Protection in place, prohibiting the suspect from contacting her.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
