TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
It was a special day for young patients at Diamond Children's today. The hospital helps young patients of all ages, some who will be in the hospital for a day or two, others who stay for months at a time.
Today, a new fun center, featuring a Nintendo Wii and DVD player was dedicated to the pediatric patients. The mobile fun center was donated by Colgate-Palmolive and Fry's Food and Drug, with help from the Starlight Children's Foundation.
Doctors and nurses at the hospital say the new toy is a perfect way for young patients to be distracted from their stay at the hospital.
Dezane Jones, a young patient at the hospital says being in the hospital is, "Not fun, kind of boring," she said. Jones says the new device will make her stay a little more exciting.
Lori Throne, the director of nursing at Diamond Children's says, "It's just a wonderful diversion for them because if you think about it, we're here doing our jobs and a child's job is really play."
This is the third fun center that's been donated to the hospital.
