Safford woman flown to Tucson after shooting

SAFFORD, AZ - Sarah Kouts, 31, of Safford was flown to the University of Arizona Medical Center-University Campus after she was shot in her face and left hand early Sunday morning.

According to a press release from the Graham County Sheriff's Office, Sarah's husband, Kevin Kouts, 31, of Safford called 9-1-1 at about 6:01 a.m. and said his wife had been accidentally shot.

Deputies from the Sheriff's Office responded to a farm field road northwest of the Safford Bowling Alley near the Gila River and were joined by officers from the Safford and Thatcher police departments and paramedics from Southwest Ambulance.
