A Tucson man was killed Sunday in a one-vehicle accident near Berthoud Pass in the central Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
Michael Baker, 56, died on the scene.
Baker was driving a 2012 pickup truck, heading east-bound on U.S. Highway 40, on the east side of Berthoud Pass.
He tried to negotiate a left turn on the highway and drifted to the right, out of the travel lane and off the right-hand shoulder, according to Colorado State police.
He hit a snowbank, and then went over it, and the guard rail, and down the embankment 60 feet.
Berthoud Pass is about 55 miles west of Denver, north of Interstate 70.
