MARANA, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Marana Mayor Ed Honea's wife, Jan, passed away earlier today.

Town Manager Gilbert Davidson said, "Mrs. Honea fought a courageous battle with cancer and her loss will be felt in every corner of our great community. She truly cared for Marana and was a loving and supportive partner for Mayor Honea."

The Honeas were married for 17 years. They met when Mrs. Honea was the Marana Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. She was born in Mesa and moved to Marana in 1994.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked well-wishers to make donations to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Honea's name.

Mrs. Honea is survived by her husband, two brothers, two children, five grandchildren and a great-grandson. Services will be held March 3 at 11 a.m. at Marana Mortuary.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Davidson said, "Please keep the Mayor and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they go through this extremely difficult time."
