PIMA COUNTY, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Pima County taxpayers are shelling out $150,000 to help the state save money.

The Pima Council on Aging will get the money to help elderly people stay in their homes rather than be put into nursing care.

It's a program which can save $10 for every dollar spent. But, the state cut the funding for the program to save money.

This morning, the county stepped up with a onetime general fund donation to the Pima Council on Aging to keep the program going.

The money will keep more than a hundred seniors in their homes by providing regular visits and other in home care.
