The boy who was injured during a drive-by shooting Tuesday evening on Blair Avenue in Avondale is out of the hospital and recovering at home.
4-year-old Khyren Landrum was shot by a single bullet in the buttocks and taken to Children's Hospital Medical Center. He was released Thursday afternoon.
"Kids can't even play at the park now because of shooting and stuff," Khyren's mother, Aiesha Landrum, told FOX19. "My son was walking home from the park and he gets shot. He was an innocent bystander. What if he would've died? Or what if somebody else would've got shot and killed? This stuff needs to come to an end."
Wednesday night the neighborhood had a street rally and some joined together to fight back against the senseless shootings that have occurred in Cincinnati recently. Fliers were passed out asking people to help find the shooter.
Meanwhile, Ms. Landrum hopes her son can recover soon.
"He's not a normal child right now because he can't get up and play with his sisters or with his friends so he's still on medication. He's just laying there. He's always saying he's in pain in his leg or if I move him a certain way where he got shot at in the butt he'll tell me it hurts," she said.
She also hopes the person who shot her son will realize what they did and turn themselves in.
"I'd just like to tell them to come forward because it could've been anybody's child. It could've been their child".
