TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords could make an appearance at the Democratic National Convention this September.

That's according to husband Mark Kelly speaking at a luncheon for police officers in Charlotte, N.C. today.

That's where the DNC will take place this fall and local station WSOC-TV reports Kelly says Giffords is doing well and plans on returning to public service.

Her rehabilitation schedule will determine whether she's available to attend the convention.
