Tucson, AZ (Tuesday, April 17, 2012) — The Pima County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted today to authorize conversion of field five at the Kino North Sports Complex to a permanent soccer field.
The conversion will also include bleachers to create a 2,000-seat soccer facility that will be the home field for FC Tucson. The County also voted to explore conversion of additional fields at Kino North Complex to soccer to support Major League Soccer preseason, the Desert Diamond Cup and youth and adult leagues and tournaments.
"We're happy to work out a mutually beneficial partnership with Pima County that gives FC Tucson a real home for the 2012 PDL season, opens the door to expansion of Major League Soccer preseason and the Desert Diamond Cup in Tucson and expands opportunities for youth soccer and adult recreational soccer." said managing member Greg Foster. "This is a win for Tucson and the Southern Arizona soccer community."
Construction on the 2,000-seat facility will begin immediately and will be finished by FC Tucson's first home game on Saturday, May 19 against the Southern California Seahorses.
Season tickets for the eight game 2012 United Soccer League's (USL) Premier Development League (PDL) season will be going on sale Thursday, April 19, at Noon. All seats are general admission. The home schedule starts on Sat. May 19th @ 7:00 PM at the Kino North Facility, Field #5 versus the SoCal Seahorses. Fans can purchase their seats at www.fctucson.com, TicketForce.com or directly through FC Tuvcson's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/FCTucson. You may also call the TicketForce customer service line at 480.840.0459. Adult packages will $80 for ten home games. Children's packages (must be 12 years or younger) are only $60. Both packages will include an official adidas FC Tucson scarf. Two bonus games will be included in the season ticket package.
