Police: Alcohol involved in 3 car crash on south side

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

A crash on Tucson's south side has left one person dead and several others injured.

It happened just before 5:30 a.m. Sunday on Valencia Road at I-19.

Tucson Fire Capt. Jeff Langejans tells Tucson News Now, the crash involved a truck, small S-U-V, and a compact car.

One person died at the scene, four others were taken to local hospitals for treatment, according to Langejans. The deceased victim has been identified as Gail Andrew Miller, 57.

After an investigation it was determined that the red pickup truck ran a red light and struck a car which then hit another car in the intersection. The driver of the truck that triggered the accident was under the influence of alcohol, he has been identified as Alfredo Gomez Munoz, 38.

Munos was charged with second degree murder and other charges.
