Highway to White Mountains reopens after brush fires

Driving was slow to the White Mountains Friday afternoon for about 45 minutes.

Two small brush fires broke out near the Biosphere on both sides of Arizona Highway 77 near the Biosphere.

The fires closed the northbound lane of traffic, the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.

The Pinal Sheriff's office extinguished a small fire, about 25 feet by 25 feet, with a fire extinguisher around 5 p.m.

Crews from Golder Ranch Fire and Oracle Fire put out bigger one, about 200 feet by 60 feet, around 5:15 p.m.

Traffic was back to normal around 5:45 p.m., the Arizona Department of Safety said.
