Lynsey Coutts
TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -
The City of Tucson has officially moved to fire a police officer accused of drunk driving.
The city gave termination papers to Lynsey Coutts, who now has a week to respond to the action. But, a disciplinary hearing was postponed Tuesday for Coutts.
City spokesman Michael Graham said a scheduled date has not been determined for Officer Lynsey Coutts.
Police say Coutts tried to drive to work a week ago with a blood alcohol concentration nearly three times the legal limit.
Officers say she was arrested on Interstate 10 near the Avra Valley Road exit after she called a supervisor, saying she was driving fast and was afraid of hitting other cars.
Earlier this year, Coutts entered into an employment contract in which she acknowledged she could be fired if drinking interfered with her job.
