Piper Stoeckel was crowned Miss Arizona on Saturday night in the annual scholarship pageant.
The University of Arizona broadcasting senior from Prescott, competing as Miss Tucson Valley, was chosen by the judges over 19 other contestants.
Brittany Mazur (Miss Tucson Desert Rose) was the only other Southern Arizona competitor to make the top five.
The other three finalists were Tiffany Hilburn (Miss Scottsdale), Danielle McBurnett (Miss Maricopa County) and Britanee Perkins (Miss Tempe) in the competition at Mesquite High School.
Three other Southern Arizona titleholders made the top 10: Carmen DeLeon (Miss Sierra Vista), Christie Roshau (Miss Rio Nuevo) and D'adra Sites (Miss Tucson Old Pueblo).
Stoeckel advances to January's Miss America competition in Las Vegas.
The last three Miss Arizona winners have been UA students, Kathryn Bulkley (2010), Jennifer Sedler (2011) and Stoeckel. Bulkley and Sedler finished in the top 10 at Miss America.
