TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

Two people have been taken to a local hospital, after they were stuck in a storm drain for at least eight hours.

Tucson Fire Department Captain Barrett Baker tells Tucson News Now, the pair in their 30's voluntarily walked into the storm drain system, and apparently were not able to get out.

Someone heard the pair calling for help, and TFD crews responded Saturday morning to the area near Stone Avenue and Wetmore Road. Crews were able to cut the pair out of the drain, and bring them to safety.

According to Capt. Baker, both people were showing signs of heat-related illness.
